This chapter focuses upon the causal structure of growth and inflation in China, and in doing so provides substantive empirical evidence leading to a better understanding of the engines of growth and inflation in China. This will also assist in the formulation and implementation of macroeconomic and restructuring policy to minimize the consequences of the Asian financial meltdown on China.
