Important to note here that impact is not equivalent to ESG scores, where having a policy on X or Y could positively affect your score, where lack of media coverage about controversies earns you good points, etc. These scores and their limitations have been discussed in chapter three and given that they score perception management rather than actual impact, it is not surprising that ESG scores have been found to correlate with positive market returns.
