Abstract
Since the end of the twentieth century, computer technologies have become pervasive and ubiquitous in our every day life. With the introduction of wireless networks, new sensor systems, mobile computer systems and tools for the development of applications, the traditional distinction between culture and technology is superseded. In this book, we present different approaches to digitalise tangible and intangible culture as well as best practices examples, challenges and future trends in different cultural contexts. We will elaborate on several technical aspects of mobile devices, tangible user interfaces and context-sensitive services in information systems for cultural institutions and local communities. An international perspective is presented by authors from 13 different countries working with affiliated institutions in Australia, Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
