The work presented in this paper focuses on the relevant research approaches capable of supporting empirical survey studies regarding the analysis of IS curricula. The paper briefly considers the evolution of curriculum analysis as part of the wider IS Education context. Curriculum surveys have been used repeatedly for the purpose of exploring in detail the provision of IS knowledge and skills, and thus supporting academics in their efforts to update curricula in ways that reflect the needs of industry. In order to support research in this important area this paper reviews the principal data gathering techniques used for the benefit of future researchers engaging in similar work. Finally, it highlights the important factors affecting IS curriculum surveys.
