This chapter describes a set of synchrotron studies in which there occurs the happy combination of a powerful spectroscopic technique and a problem of fundamental and enduring interest. The technique is known as resonant photo-emission (RESPES) and the problem is that of strongly interacting electrons in solids. That the technique and the problem go together so well is not entirely a coincidence, as will be seen below.
