The performing process of workflows consists of the performance of activities and transitions between activities. To perform workflows in pervasive environments needs to take account of the context information which affects both the performance way of activities and the transition control between activities. Accordingly, based on definitions of activity-context and transition-context, this paper proposes a dual-context based workflow performance framework applied in pervasive environments. Under such a framework, a context specifying method is presented for the workflow modeling, where activity-context and transition-context could be represented through simple and composite context. Moreover, the principles of performing a workflow definition with context specifications are provided for the process of context capture, mapping, and response.
