The ships sailing on the sea often have to transmit data through satellites to establish data communications with shore but it is difficult for them to receive real-time data unless they make connection artificially. This is mainly because of high satellite communication charges and its low speed. Currently, there’s no real-time push system optimized for the satellite service exits to overcome this problem. For this reason, young sailors tend to avoid working on the ships where they cannot use SNS services to contact their families or friends on land. As a matter of fact, they select the ships where they can communicate with landside people at any time during they are at sea. Meanwhile, the International Labor Organization (ILO) is encouraging the shipowners and shipping companies to have their ships equipped with the system which facilitates an all-day-long communications to promote the welfare of the crews. Therefore, to comply with this guideline by the ILO, it is essential to develop a Push System that enables real-time communications between the sailing ships and land-based people or facilities. Thus, we’ve designed a real-time push system which is optimized for the satellite communications. The system allows real-time communications while bearing down excessive communication costs. We consider that this system will bring more benefits in terms of technological, economical, industrial and social aspects compared to existing systems.
