Construction on existing sites is an important aspect of many civil engineering, sewer construction, special building and demolition projects. The result is that building sites are becoming increasingly compact. Hyundai Heavy Industries has responded to this challenge by expanding its range of crawler excavators. The new HX235 LCR is the 24-tonne addition to the company’s portfolio. At the heart of its powertrain is a Cummins Stage IV engine that produces 129 kW. Two adjustable axial piston pumps operating in tandem supply the hydraulic system, the chassis and the equipment with a variable oil flow. The new machine’s two-piece boom will be popular in Europe in particular. It consists of a 5.65-metre-long boom that can be combined with any one of three arms ranging in length from 2.00 to 2.92 metres. With the adjustable boom and the longest arm, the crawler excavator has a digging depth of up to 6380 mm, a digging height of up to 11,470 mm and a dumping height of up to 8540 mm. …
