A series of examples introduce the concept of EIB Distributed Objects: they illustrate the advanced object-oriented features defined by the EIB system for Home & Building Automation. This approach is then investigated in more detail. It is shown how a set of dedicated services allow efficient (connectionless) point-to-point access to individual properties across the EIB network. A call-back interface abstracts the underlying Application Layer from the precise way the Objects are managed by the application. Finally, an outline methodology for the design of Distributed Applications is presented, which allows a set of appropriate interface objects to be determined.
