IBM has connected their Bluemix cloud platform to BMW’s Car Data. This will enable vehicle data to be processed using the power of IBM Watson IoT and new services to be offered. BMW Car Data is a platform for digital services for the automobile that provides up to 8.5 million BMW customers worldwide with access to services provided by third parties. By connecting BMW Cat Data to Bluemix, it will be possible to evaluate and use vehicle data using the cognitive and analytical power of IBM Watson IoT. Third parties such as workshops or insurance companies will be able to offer their customers new services. To use these services, customers must first actively permit their encrypted telematic data to be shared with service providers. The first concrete offers and customer services are expected from Autumn 2017.
