The performance of an explicit method and an ADI method for the shallow-water equations is compared on a CYBER 205. Furthermore, a stabilization technique is discussed, which stabilizes the explicit method in such a way that any desired time step is possible without the development of instabilities.Comparing the codes for two test models, we found that the explicit methods are attractive on the CYBER 205. Finally, some proposals are made for the handling of irregular geometries.
