Infineon has extended its portfolio of thyristor-diode modules. According to the manufacturer, the 60-mm modules belonging to the so-called Eco Block family satisfy the demand for cost- efficient larger versions for battery chargers, static and bypass switches and also for soft starter applications and as rectifiers for drives and uninterruptable power supplies. The modules have high blocking voltage stability, are designed for air-cooled applications and use pressure contact technology that guarantees a short-on-fail feature which prevents arcing. Combined with high reliability and lifetime, these features minimize failure rates and reduce system costs. The Eco Block modules are already available in high quantities with blocking voltages of 1600 or 2200 V and with current ratings of 420 up to 630 A.
