QoS- and Energy-Aware Services Management of Resources in a Cloud Computing Environment

Abstract

Cloud computing systems are playing an increasingly important role in business, consumer and scientific domains. However, data centres in which huge amounts of data are collected, contribute to gigantic carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, improving the quality of the service (QoS), described with QoS parameters, results in additional emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The main purpose of the solution presented is to minimise the consumption of electricity and guarantee all users the required QoS. The proposed solution based on the proposed heuristic is close to the optimal one. The simulation test confirms that the overall performance is satisfactory, which confirms the applicability of this solution in practice.
