Zusammenfassung

Der vorliegende Beitrag zeichnet die Entwicklung realistischer Theorien nach. Er geht von der Annahme aus, dass es kein realistisches Paradigma gibt, sondern vielmehr konkurrierende Realismen, die jedoch alle ein Set gemeinsamer Annahmen teilen. In einem zweiten Schritt diskutiert der Beitrag mögliche zukünftige Entwicklungspfade realistischer Theorien.

Allerdings gibt es heute viele Autoren, die in diesem Widerspruch die Möglichkeit der Anknüpfung des klassischen Realismus an die kritische Theorie in den IB sehen (Reichwein 2011, S. 9; Neacsu 2010; Keaney 2006, S. 80; Little 2007, S. 157–159; Bell 2009, S. 14). Einige wenige gehen sogar soweit, aus dieser Widersprüchlichkeit die Schlussfolgerung zu ziehen, dass Morgenthau illegitimerweise zum Kanon realistischer Theoriebildung gezählt wird (Behr und Heath 2009).
