The multidimensional transformation processes which have occurred in the fields of economic, political and social life in Hungary since the demise of socialism have been accompanied by a reform of the parameters set by state policy in the housing sector, with the abandonment of the socialist paradigm regarding housing as a social service towards the neo-liberal conception of a dwelling as an economic asset.
