Abstract

The world today is witnessing a rapid change. Rising techno-centricity and commodity-fetishism is gradually leading to a dominance of free-market forces over the state, leading to a strategic retreat of state from its necessary functions. However, as we know, public policy plays a major role in protecting and promoting socio-economic well-being of a nation. The movements of the major macroeconomic variables like output, employment and price are largely determined and influenced by the type of public policies prepared and implemented. Well-designed public policies and actions can influence the development process in an astonishingly positive manner.
