In order to understand key information of household members in the observed villages, such as their age, years of schooling, marriage behaviour, fertility pattern, and decision making over major issues, five out of ten observed villages were selected for an in-depth survey.

After calculating the income level of rural households with different schooling years by group, we have conducted a regression analysis using SPSS, and the models are: the linear function model, Y (per capita income, 100 yuan) = 39.8984 + 1.6451X (schooling years); the power function model, Y = 29.7396X0.2748.

In China, marriage can be divided into hun and jia according to the resident location. When a woman moves to live in a man’s house with their children in the future taking the surname of the man, it is hun for the man and jia for the woman. On the contrary, when a man moves to live in a woman’s house with their children taking the surname of the woman, it is hun for the woman and jia for the man, which is often termed as zhaonüxu, or daochamen.
