Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric (CASE) is to be the future reality of mobility: The first two points in particular are a huge task that will require major leaps in the development of software and hardware. At the same time, software is to be raised to a new level in the vehicle, as the previously distributed, at least semi-autonomous small software centers in the form of the control units will be hosted in central computers. In addition to ISO 26262 for ensuring functional safety, the requirements of ISO 21434 for software security must now also be taken into account. This new dimension of cybersecurity requires a "step on the side" in very many places in order to perceive most perspectives of the threat and to leverage as many as possible - but never all of them. However, since the subject of software in terms of cybersecurity is about action and reaction, it requires different development principles in any case in order to be able to monitor, check and improve a software - even an AI - at any time. In this respect, the reshaping of the vehicle market toward connected and self-driving vehicles is also forcing the development of completely new software structures and mechanisms, as known from IT, telecommunications as well as robotics. The enormous amounts of data that are generated in this process are both an opportunity and a challenge. This ranges from data management, storage to real-time processing on an in-car to an ex-car level.
