The guideline points out that the product maintenance, or enhancement, has all the same aspects as product development. Analysis, design, implementation, and testing of changes to the product must all be planned, scheduled, and performed. An especially important issue that the guideline identifies is that the purchaser and the supplier must agree to the timing and content of product releases.
