Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems [

] combine the flexibility of fuzzy logic and the rigorous mathematics of a nonlinear system into a unified framework. A variety of analytical methods have been used to express asymptotic stability criteria for them in terms of LMIs [

]. All of these methods are for systems with no delay. In the real world, however, delays often occur in chemical, metallurgical, biological, mechanical, and other types of dynamic systems. Furthermore, a delay usually causes instability and degrades performance. Thus, the analysis of the stability of T-S fuzzy systems is not only of theoretical interest, but also of practical value [
