Abstract

My interest in international trade was sparked over 30 years ago. In the early 1980s, representatives from nations around the world gathered in Geneva, Switzerland, to try to launch negotiations around a global trade agreement, but the conference stalled on agriculture. Nothing came of it, and it was widely regarded as a failure.
