The growing availability of mobile and wireless network infrastructures and, at the same time, the development of powerful and smart mobile computing devices opens up new possibilities and challenges, but also poses new issues for distributed systems and applications. One of primary issues of ubiquitous computing appears to be the integration of the potentials of mobile computing, context-awareness and seamless connectivity of services and devices – one of its primary aims is the provision of an omnipresent but calm computing landscape, empowering people with smart assistance and intelligent guidance.
