Über dieses Buch

This book introduces wireless personal communications from the point of view of wireless communication system researchers. Existing sources on wireless communications put more emphasis on simulation and fundamental principles of how to build a study model. In this volume, the aim is to pass on to readers as much knowledge as is essential for completing model building of wireless communications, focusing on wireless personal area networks (WPANs). This book is the first of its kind that gives step-by-step details on how to build the WPANs simulation model. It is most helpful for readers to get a clear picture of the whole wireless simulation model by being presented with many study models. The book is also the first treatise on wireless communication that gives a comprehensive introduction to data-length complexity and the computational complexity of the processed data and the error control schemes. This volume is useful for all academic and technical staff in the fields of telecommunications and wireless communications, as it presents many scenarios for enhancing techniques for weak error control performance and other scenarios for complexity reduction of the wireless data and image transmission. Many examples are given to help readers to understand the material covered in the book. Additional resources such as the MATLAB codes for some of the examples also are presented.

Chapter 1. Introduction
Abstract
The historical notes about the beginning of WPAN technologies are introduced in this chapter. The widely used WPANs are the Bluetooth networks, and also its advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Personal communication concepts are considered and included in the WPANs technologies specially Bluetooth technology. It is considered the beginning of personal communications term and its developer also. Finally, the rest of this book contents are also presented.

Chapter 2. WPANs Technologies Beginning
Abstract
Contents of the beginning of the personal wireless communications and original Bluetooth version are presented and the classes of the power also. Bluetooth technology forms its network from eight devices, this network is called Piconet. Every piconet contains from one device acts as a master and seven device act as slave. There are two types of physical connections, the ACL and SCO connection for voice communications. This chapter also presents the different Bluetooth protocols. The Bluetooth technology can be considered adaptive packets technology; there are different packets format can be employed for user data transmission. The different packets are introduced in this chapter.

Chapter 3. Error Control Schemes
Abstract
The channel coding schemes play a vital role in the different wireless communications. The simple error control techniques are employed for Bluetooth technology. There are some packets which are transmitted after encoding process. In this chapter, the different error control schemes are presented. The contents of Bluetooth packet are discussed. The classical and enhanced data rate packets are also presented.

Chapter 4. WPAN-Bluetooth Simulation Scenarios Using Block Codes
Abstract
The performance of classical WPAN Bluetooth network is studied in this chapter. The analytical and simulation for standard and proposed scenarios are presented. The theoretical study of the standard uncoded and encoded packets is analyzed. Here, also different proposed encoded packets scenarios are introduced with different error control schemes such as the BCH code (15, 7) and Hamming code (7, 4). The performance of the proposed encoded packets has been evaluated over different communications channels. The MATLAB codes of the presented different scenarios are presented in this chapter.

Chapter 5. WPAN Simulation Scenarios-2 with the Different Coding
Abstract
In this chapter, the previous scenarios of the WPAN Bluetooth system simulation are repeated with more powerful error control schemes. The chapter presents the components of the convolutional encoders with different constraint lengths. The convolutional code is widely used as error control technique within different wireless communications systems. The MATLAB codes of the encoded packets using the convolutional codes are presented. The frame with the proposed channel coding is discussed; the user data ‘payload’ is decreased with the check bits increasing. The performance of the proposed scenarios is analyzed.

Chapter 6. Simulation Scenarios of Pseudo-coding Techniques
Abstract
The pseudo-coding can be considered of the coding techniques which are utilized for combating the effects of noise on the transmitted signals. This chapter presents the pseudo-coding using different interleaving techniques. The traditional and proposed randomizing techniques are presented in this chapter. The historical note of the chaotic encryption is discussed. It is employed in this chapter as the proposed pseudo-code. The image transmission over the WPAN Bluetooth networks is discussed in this chapter.
