Abstract

Today, more than ever, the challenge of the cities is to bring the digital experience to the citizens. Innovative digital cities that use technology in terms of advanced infrastructures, platforms, and e-services helps to provide more efficient urban services, improve the quality of life of citizens, and meet the present and future needs of the city in economic, social and environmental perspectives. It guarantees efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability. Such cities, also known as Smart Cities, are a future reality for municipalities around the world. These cities will use the power of ubiquitous communication networks, highly distributed wireless sensor technology, and intelligent management systems to solve current and future challenges and create exciting new services. In this chapter, we propose a sustainable business model to implement the Smart City digital services. The proposed model aims to accelerate the process of urbanization, reduce the urban development problems such as food safety, urban crime, traffic jams, traffic accidents, etc. The chapter also discusses the importance of updating digital service for a smart city in order to promote innovation in e-services.
