Abstract

The adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) onto the surfaces of methyl methacrylate copolymer with 2,3 epoxypropyl methacrylate to obtain a biocompatibilized composite is evidenced. The polymeric matrix was prepared using β-cyclodextrin as tensioactive as well as with and without the presence of a continuous external magnetic field (MF) of 1,500-Gs intensity during synthesis. The coupling of BSA was made with or without the presence of MF. The presence of BSA on the polymer’s surface is confirmed through the nondestructive techniques: near-infrared chemical imaging (NIR-CI), SEM, ESEM and X-ray studies. The ζ potential evaluation of the prepared biocompatibilized particles attests their stability. The study also underlines the assistance of the MF in the adsorption process, concretized in the growing of the BSA adsorbed amount onto polymeric matrices.
