Abstract

Dielectric elastomers are a variety of electroactive polymer that deform due to the electrostatic interaction between two electrodes with opposite electric charge. Dielectric elastomer actuators are recognized as one of the most promising soft actuation technologies that have a widely application in soft robots. In this paper, an ultralight locomotion robot based on dielectric elastomers resonance mechanism has been prepared. During operation, a suitable excitation frequency and voltage level were determined experimentally, which provide guidance to optimize on-demand locomotion of the robot. The structure of our robot is very simple and only weight 9.6 g but have a speed of 65 mm/s benefit by dielectric elastomer resonator. The resonance mechanism increases the energy conversion efficiency of dielectric elastomer actuators which has huge potential application in soft robots.
