Analytical Method in the Linear Three-Dimensional Aerodynamics of a Thin Rectangular Wing

Abstract

In this paper, we develop an analytical method for the classical problem of a flow around a thin rectangular plate with a large span. At a specific expansion in orthogonal systems of functions with the weight determined by the qualitative behavior of the solution, the initial two-dimensional integral equation is shown to be asymptotically equivalent to a set of independent one-dimensional integral equations. For them, an asymptotic method similar to the method of boundary layer solutions, which makes it possible to obtain analytical representations for the main aerodynamic characteristics, is constructed. A comparison with the numerical discrete vortex method shows that the accuracy of the obtained solution is high both for a large and medium wing span.
