Piëch Automotive, an up-and-coming German-Swiss automobile manufacturer, will present the Piëch Mark Zero study at the Geneva International Motor Show. A new type of cell in the battery of the electric sports car should enable fast charging.

The Piëch Mark Zero is a study by automobile manufacturer Piëch Automotive, founded in 2016. Co-CEO Anton "Toni" is the son of Ferdinand Piëch. The 4,432 mm long, 1,991 mm wide and 1,250 mm flat Gran Turismo has a classic design, reminiscent of sports cars from Aston Martin and Jaguar. The Piëch electric sports car will be presented at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show.
The traction batteries in the electric sports car have an unusual arrangement. Instead of placing a package in the underbody, they were distributed at the front in the centre tunnel and at the rear axle, so that a low seating position could be made possible. The batteries will be supplied by the Chinese manufacturer Desten and the charging infrastructure will be provided by Qingdao Tgood Electric (also from China).
New cell type enables fast charging in the Piëch Mark Zero
The battery of the Piëch Mark Zero is said to have a special cell type, which has very high thermal stability during charging and discharging, so that stronger currents can flow. According to Piëch, due to the low temperature development, the air-cooled cells can be recharged to 80 percent battery capacity in 4:40 minutes in rapid charging mode.*
The 1,800 kg Piëch Mark Zero electric sports car is propelled by three electric motors: an asynchronous motor with 150 kW (204 hp) power is installed at the front, and two synchronous motors, which also have 150 kW each, are installed at the rear axle. The acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.2 seconds; the top speed is 250 km/h. The WLTP range is estimated at 500 km. The Piëch Mark Zero concept car is intended to mark the start of a product family for the automobile manufacturer based in Zurich and Munich.
