Volkswagen China and FAW-Volkswagen have plans to advance networking and digitisation in the vehicles of FAW-Volkswagen. They plan on developing digital services as part of a joint venture.
The new "Mobile Online Services Intelligent" (Mosi) joint venture will be situated in China's IT metropolis Chengdu. Volkswagen China and FAW-Volkswagen are investing around 121 million euro in the joint venture, which will start in 2019. "Deepening the cooperation with our colleagues at FAW-Volkswagen means Volkswagen can further integrate technical and customer knowledge to create the best services for Chinese customers. We intend to offer a profound positive answer to their ever changing mobility needs," says Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein, member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen China and CEO of Volkswagen China.
The digital services developed by Mosi will be available in FAW-Volkswagen models from the end of 2019. From 2020, services for vehicles will preferably be designed on the modular electric toolkit (MEB). It is also in China where Volkswagen's automotive ecosystem is to be created by linking the networked vehicle, the cloud-based platform and digital services together.
