Abstract

The S2 (or S2) chart is one of the most useful tools in Operations Management (OM) for monitoring process variability. Previous studies on this chart with estimated variance did not compare their one- and two-sided designs. We make this comparison, revealing the large performance difference between them and providing new insights for the users.
