The use of natural gas as a fuel offers considerable potential for reducing CO2 emissions. Deutz is taking this development into account and, together with the University of Rostock, has developed the high-performance natural gas engine TCG 5.0 for heavy-duty applications as part of the HoLeGaMo research project. The article describes the speed-synchronized charge dosing valves used for each cylinder. They are intended to de-throttle the stoichiometrically operated and spark ignited engine at partial load and, at high loads, to facilitate internal cooling of the mixture by applying the Miller process. …
