Abstract—

The problem of the demarcation of knowledge in the social sciences and humanities is considered. A comparison of the parameters of publication activity in the socio-humanitarian and engineering disciplines is carried out. Indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of research in the social sciences and humanities are listed, and the possibility of obtaining applied results in the framework of these studies is substantiated. The areas of life that they can influence are indicated, and an approach to measuring the impact of scientific research on society is proposed as an assessment of the effectiveness of social innovations by social indicators.
