Abstract

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a promising catalyst of hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). But the low density and poor reactivity of active sites, poor electrical transport to the catalyst, leads to the modest performance. In this work, we overcome these issues through as-preparing heterodimensional nanostructures of nanodots modified MoS2 thin nanosheets (NDs-MoS2), obtained by ultrasonic exfoliation of a defected MoS2 nanosheets (D-MoS2). Our results suggest that ultrasonic exfoliation of D-MoS2 is a sample and efficient method of the synthesis NDs-MoS2 to improve the catalytic activity of MoS2 nanosheets. NDs-MoS2 show the high HER performance with a small Tafel slope of 57 mV dec−1 and a low overpotential value (172 mV, at the current density of 10 mA cm−2), moreover, NDs-MoS2 maintain the characteristic of MoS2 long-term stability.
