Abstract

In order to enhance the performance of vehicular communication, cluster-based hybrid DSRC/WiMAX technology plays a crucial role in creating communications between vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) (V2V). One of the main goals of this hybrid technology is to improve the user experience while also providing a wide range of communication options in high-mobility circumstances. In this paper, the authors proposed a variety of communication scenarios, and the effectiveness of a hybrid system was analysed by comparing possible physical layer features. A method of bridging between different wireless technologies has been proposed using the Common OFDM parameter and clustering mechanism. In a randomly generated clustering based vehicular communication scenario, one of the key challenges has been identified and addressed by using the concepts of sub-channelization, padding bits to match the subcarriers, packet size between the transmitter and receiver, and cluster head selection. When compared to various communication scenarios, the NS2 simulation result indicates the capability of the cluster-based hybrid DSRC-IEEE802.16d system.
