Despite the implications of the title, interest in this book should not be restricted only to European wood anatomists, but should extend to wood identification specialists and wood technologists across the world. The breadth of species, depth of information—including wood technological data—consistency and clarity of descriptions, adherence to published (semi-)standard character state definitions, and availability of an electronic key more than make up for strangely poor print image resolution and color balance, and the regrettably non-durable binding quality of the hardcover edition.
