Urgent challenges of climate protection and air pollution control mean the automotive industry is undergoing a paradigm shift. Electrification continues to progress, and the spread of hybrid drives from 48-V to high-voltage technology is opening up new opportunities in all vehicle segments. This is why the overall electrical system is a highly topical and central issue, given the crucial need to master the overall system beyond component level. Storage media, so important for electrification, must be robustly designed, while monitoring their cost and ecological footprint. This also applies to all-electric drives in particular, which, as promising forward-looking technologies, range from the 48-V concept to fuel cells. In sum, they are soon set to become an integral part of mobility - at least in highly industrialized regions of the world.
