Magnetic and luminescence properties of the porous CoFe2O4@Y2O3:Eu3+ nanocomposite with higher coercivity

Abstract

In this paper, the magnetic, luminescence, and porous CoFe2O4@Y2O3:Eu3+ nanocomposite was synthesized by a facile three-step method. The porous structure of the nanocomposite had been produced by burning off the intermediate carbon layer. The CoFe2O4@Y2O3:Eu3+ nanocomposite consists of uniform, well-dispersed microspheres with a size of 260–275 nm. The nanocomposite shows excellent magnetic and luminescence properties. The prepared CoFe2O4/C microsphere and porous CoFe2O4@Y2O3:Eu3+ nanocomposite display higher coercivity than that of the obtained CoFe2O4 particles. The size, magnetic, and photoluminescence properties of the nanocomposite can be adjusted by changing the annealing temperature, deposited amount of Y2O3:Eu3+, and the concentration of glucose aqueous solution. The interactive effects of the magnetism and luminescence have been discussed.
