Abstract

In this paper, we present an alternative definition for the generalized metarational stability concept to conflicts with n-decision makers (DMs) in the context of the graph model for conflict resolution. Our motivation to present this proposal lies on the fact that unlike the original definition of generalized metarationality for n-DMs, our definition coincides with the definition of generalized metarationality for conflicts involving only two DMs. Moreover, our definition also includes the symmetric metarational stability as a particular case. We also establish some properties satisfied by the proposed alternative definition.

As pointed out in Rêgo and Vieira (2018), the fact that DM i must be the first to move is not explicit in Zeng et al. (2007). However, without such assumption, every state would trivially satisfy the definition, since if DM j, \(j\ne i\), moves at s, the sequence will terminate at s.

The stability analysis made in Garcia et al. (2017) fixed one policy for each opponent of the focal DM and also the order in which DMs move. However, according to Definitions 11 and 12, it should be verified the existence of some policies and some order of moves leading the conflict to a non-preferable state for the focal DM. Here, we followed the original generalized metarational definitions.
