Es ist bekannt, dass Nostalgie ein wichtiger Bezugspunkt des soziologischen Migrationsdiskurses ist. Nostalgie ist auch wichtig in Bezug auf die Verbindung von Zeit und Raum in einer Erzählung. In diesem Kapitel wird die Idee des Chronotops als kompositorische Facette der von Bakhtin (1981) vorgebrachten Verbindung von Zeit und Raum in der Literatur aufgegriffen und weiterentwickelt. Das Kapitel zeigt, wie Nostalgie chronotopisch konzeptualisiert werden kann, da sie einen verlorenen Ort und auch eine verlorene Zeit durch Erzählung verbindet. Gestützt auf eine Studie über Migration von Frauen nach Spanien im Ruhestand und ihre Suche nach Gemeinschaft und Zugehörigkeit, um theoretisch Nostalgie als chronotopisches Erzählmittel zu verorten, analysiere ich, wie oft Vergangenheit in Erinnerung gerufen wird, um einen Sinn für die Gegenwart zu gewinnen. Eine Fokussierung auf die Vergangenheit – und die Konzeptualisierung der Zeit als vergänglich – wird dabei als ein Mittel zur Strukturierung und Analyse von Erzählungen angesehen.
