There is no doubt that human activities are a major cause of species extinction and ecosystem deterioration. We are required to save endangered species, control invasive populations, and effectively use and maintain renewable natural resources such as forests and fisheries. Because both economic resources and time to mitigate anthropogenic impacts are limited, we need to mitigate human impacts as efficiently as possible. Mathematical models provide useful tools to derive effective management strategies, because models can predict states of conservation targets in the future and describe relationships between management strategies and their outcomes. …
