A means of determining the optimal temperature for cultivation of a cucumber crop in a greenhouse is presented. The optimal temperature is derived from a comparison with a standard temperature regime and is selected on the basis of two criteria: (1) expected income from an early crop and (2) heating costs.The nonlinear problem is solved using the reference point approach as implemented in the DIDASS/N software package.
