Deutz and John Deere Power Systems are collaborating on the development and component procurement for a commercial vehicle engine in the power range up to 130 kW. The basic engine is to be customized by the companies with their own software and control elements to meet the respective customer requirements. Production and marketing will be carried out independently of each other. With this cooperation, the companies aim to expand their supplier base and benefit from global economies of scale. It opens up the possibility of "offering a reliable and cost- effective engine in the lower power segment," says Pierre Guyot, Senior Vice President at John Deere Power Systems.
