Nvidia has launched Drive AGX Orin, a highly advanced and software-defined platform for autonomous vehicles and robots. It is powered by a new System-on-a-Chip (SoC) called Orin that consists of 17 billion transistors. It integrates Nvidia's next-generation GPU architecture with Hercules CPU cores from ARM along with new deep learning and computer vision accelerators. Together, they achieve 200 trillion operations per second: almost seven times the power of the previous SoC generation. Orin is designed to manage the large number of applications and deep neural networks that run simultaneously in autonomous vehicles and robots while achieving safety standards such as ISO 26262 ASIL-D. The Orin platform is programmable via open CUDA and TensorRT APIs and libraries, whereby developers can utilize their investments over several product generations.
