The telecommunications industry is in the throes of a series of tremendous changes. We have heard that sort of statement for years... but now it is actuallyhappening. Around the world the traditional, national, monopolybased structures are breaking down. At the same time, the long-heralded and much discussed convergence of the telecommunications, computing, publishing, broadcasting, information and entertainment industries is taking place.
