Abstract

The Internet of things has been taking the world by storm. Its massive rise in popularity and consistent developments has bred a plethora of novel technology solutions, used across a variety of disparate industries. Healthcare is one such industry that has piqued the interest of many researchers and tech enthusiasts. Over the years, the Internet of medical things (IoMT) has gained a lot of prominence. IoMT is a combination of medical devices, applications and healthcare IT systems, the former two being connected to the latter via networking technologies. This paper explores how IoMT has redefined the space of healthcare solutions, its application, and some challenges its implementation faces and the way ahead. It presents a comprehensive literature review on IoT in the healthcare domain as well as on specific applications and future trends.
