Zusammenfassung

Beeinflusst von demografischen Entwicklungen, dem technologischen Fortschritt und dem erweiterten wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisstand ergeben sich insbesondere für die medizinische Versorgung neue Möglichkeiten der Diagnostik und Therapie. Das Fachgebiet der Kardiologie ist mit seinen Krankheitsbildern und der spezifischen Patientenklientel im Besonderen für die Telemedizin prädestiniert: In der Behandlung kardialer Erkrankungen zeigt die Fernüberwachung relevanter Leistungsparameter und die Fernbetreuung ihren besonderen Wert sowohl aus diagnostischer als auch therapeutischer Sicht. In Kombination des Telemonitorings mit neuen pharmakologischen Therapiekonzepten, der Nutzung von implantierten Diagnostik- und Therapiesystemen sowie einer veränderten, auf Eigeninitiative basierenden Patientenrolle werden heute der Telemedizin in der Kardiologie, trotz offener und zum Teil kontrovers diskutierter Studienlage, positive Potenziale zuerkannt.
