Abstract

In order to improve the efficiency and durability of the kinematic pair systems, the research continues for novel materials and lubricants that can potentially reduce friction and wear. This article was dedicated to explore the combined lubrication of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and MoS2 nanospheres (NSs) at different testing temperatures. Furthermore, the glaze layer with grain refinement could have a strong bearing capacity and resist the damage caused by high stress. At 450 °C, a integrated lubricating film containing GNPs and MoS2 NSs was continuously formed to provide the low-strength junctions at the interface, resulting in a lower friction coefficient of 0.15 and a smaller wear rate of 1.56 × 10−5 mm3 N−1 m−1. Meanwhile, the GNPs played the role of reinforcement particles and improved loading carrying ability, while MoS2 NSs demonstrated the effect of repairing with being pressed into the microfurrows of the worn surface.
