The occupational environment within developed nations has changed rapidly over the past 50 years. With the dramatic rise of global competition, occupations in these countries have become more focused on providing services rather than in producing goods (Figueroa and Woods 2007). In light of this business mentality shift, employees are also beginning to see their work as more than just a way to pay the bills, increasingly seeking a sense of life purpose and spiritual fulfillment from their careers (Lips-Wiersma 2002). Dr. Joan Marques, Dr. Satinder Dhiman, and Dr. Richard King provide relevant information for organizational managers as well as the individual employee regarding ways to create a work environment that will meet these spiritual human needs in our ever-changing labor climate. …
