Abstract

This chapter considers the project for the bionic transformation. A project is the basis of any innovation, which is critical to overcoming the present economic and financial crisis. Actionable knowledge on how to improve innovation and bring value to the customers and organizations is essential. There have been many attempts to apply methods to the innovation processes with mixed results in the past. This chapter discusses improving innovation processes based on design thinking and integrating digitization into the lean six sigma method. These methods aim to add value to the customers, improve effectiveness, eliminate waste, minimize operating costs, and reduce time-to-market by redesigning the innovation processes and automation.
The chapter reports a certain number of cases where these approaches have been very successful in helping the start-to-end innovation processes (from the definition of the value for the customers up to the implementation of a prototype and engineering the delivery processes).
