Emergenz organisationaler Fähigkeiten

Zusammenfassung

Der junge fähigkeitsorientierte (auch kompetenzorientierte) Erklärungsansatz im Forschungsbereich des strategischen Managements stellt auf der Grundlage der evolutionären Ökonomie organisationale Fähigkeiten in den Mittelpunkt der Erklärung von Unternehmen. Von zentraler Bedeutung ist dabei die Frage, was genau diese organisationalen Fähigkeiten sind, wie sie entstehen und wie sie sich entwickeln. Bisher gibt es zwar einzelne Erklärungsansätze, jedoch fehlt eine Einordnung der Ansätze in eine geschlossene Theorie. Der Beitrag bietet eine kritische Reflexion des aktuellen Diskurses und setzt vorhandene Partialansätze miteinander in Beziehung und ordnet sie in einen Bezugsrahmen ein, indem die bisherigen Überlegungen zur Entstehung und Entwicklung organisationaler Fähigkeiten komplementär zusammengefügt werden. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Überlegungen zu einem Lebenszyklusmodell bei der Entwicklung organisationaler Fähigkeiten. Dabei werden zunächst zentrale Terminologien im fähigkeitsorientierten Ansatz erläutert und eingeordnet. Vor dem Hintergrund evolutionstheoretischer Überlegungen sowie jüngerer Beiträge aus der Pfadabhängigkeitstheorie werden verschiedene Entstehungs- und Entwicklungspfade organisationaler Fähigkeiten und deren Zusammenhänge systematisch dargestellt. Der Beitrag endet mit einer zusammenfassenden Darstellung und einem Ausblick auf künftige Forschungsrichtungen.
